Aloo’r Dum is a traditional Bengali dish made with a mixture of potatoes and spices. This dish is extremely popular in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Nepal. This is one of the most popular potato dishes and is very easy to make at home. Below I am giving a simple Aloo’r Dum recipe.
Alur Dom Recipe
Aloo'r Dom is a classic Bengali potato curry that boasts a perfect blend of spices, creating a flavorful and satisfying dish. The crispy exterior of the potatoes and the rich, spicy gravy make this curry a delightful addition to any meal.
Ingredients
- 300-400 g Potatoes
- 1/2 cup Green Peas
- 2 Tomatoes
- 1 Onion
- 3 Cloves
- 2 Cardamoms
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 Bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon Garam masala
- 2 tablespoons Mustard oil
- to taste Salt, Turmeric, Red Chilli
- Chop coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the potatoes and cut them into small pieces. Chop onion and tomato. Wash the peas.
- Heat oil in a pan. Add cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves and fry well. Be careful not to overcook the masala.
- Once it is fried well, add the onion and keep stirring till it turns golden. When onion is fried, after that keep stirring with tomatoes and masala. Now add potatoes and beans.
- Finally serve the potato dum with chopped coriander leaves.
